Black Swallowtail Female
The female has a row of blue near the tails.

Note the male looks quite different with a row of yellow spots crossing the wings.
Host plant - fennel
Members of the carrot family serve as host plants for the Black Swallowtail such as fennel.
Host plant - parsley
Another host plant is parsley. Here is a Black Swallowtail caterpillar enjoying the parsley.

The caterpillar has no defense system.

However, tit sends out its osmeterium (looks like short, fat antennae) that produces a very bad smell to scare predators.
