Gulls and Terns are common along the shore.

GULLS also can be seen flying over coastal areas. Their webbed feet often leave tracks along the beach.  Gulls float on the water, but do not dive.  The most common gulls in Hilton Head are the Laughing Gull, and Herring Gull.

TERNS are more slender than gulls and dive into the water.  Laughing Gulls with their distinctive "laugh" are very common in Hilton Head.
